What does your company do?
I am the owner and project manager for ReliaCraft which is a home improvement company. We provide home remodeling, repair, and handyman services. We also custom fabricate cabinetry, wall units, doors, countertops, and more.

What do you use nBill for?
My main attraction to nBill is the ability to create quotes and invoices that are accessible to the customer on my website. This allows me to take deposits and payments online. I also track all my expenses and other income in nBill which gives me a completely integrated quoting, billing, and accounting system.

What were you doing before you started using nBill?
I used QuickBooks (by Intuit) for seven years. Not only was it expensive, it was also a large, complex system which did not fit in with my small business needs. For larger businesses, it may be appropriate. For small businesses, it is just too overly complicated and unnecessary.

What difference has nBill made to you?
Since converting to nBill, I have been able to move my entire business online. This allows me to access customer account information, quotes, invoices, payment data, and more while on the go from my mobile phone. I am now able to create an invoice for services while still on the job site. Also, I can edit and make changes to quotes while in a customer's home which expedites the quote approval process and allows me to take deposit payments immediately.

Why did you choose nBill over other products?
The simple answer is that it is the most comprehensive online billing and accounting solution available.

I searched for months to find an appropriate program for my business. While some of the billing solutions available seemed promising, nBill was the only one that contained ALL of the features that I was looking for. Some of the features that I was looking for included:

  • Tight integration with my website.
  • Ability to provide quotes (this may seem obvious, but there are several billing solutions out there that do not provide the option to send estimates).
  • Seamless online payment gateway integration.
  • Easy expense tracking.
  • Simplified accounting reports for year end taxes.
  • Possibility to customize the front end to fit my website.
  • Inexpensive. There are a lot of online services available that are feature rich, but they charge a hefty monthly fee.
  • Database control. I wanted to host my own database to have full access and control over all of my customer and billing data.


Any other comments?
I have been using nBill for several years now. While it has not been developed for my specific business model, I have been able to easily customize it to fit my needs.

It is not easy to migrate to a new billing/accounting system, so I don't want to have to do it again. This means that I needed to find a solution that could grow with my business. I made the decision to commit to nBill for the foreseeable future because of the abundance of features, ease of use, the fact that it is actively being developed and improved, and because the developer is extremely responsive to support requests through both his website forum and his support ticket system.

I didn’t have any accounting software prior to using nBill, I did everything manually.

What difference has nBill made to you?
It allows me to offer more services and easily collect payments and generate recurring invoices. My clients can just login select additional features for their site and make their payments with no interaction from me. Wow, I never knew accounting was so easy. There are no mistakes and fewer questions from clients, as their accounts can be reviewed at any time.

Why did you choose nBill over other products?
Honestly, I didn’t look at any other software. I found nBill on the Joomla Extension site and liked everything about it. I even offer it as an addon to my clients, they buy the license and pay me to install.

nBill is well thought-out, easy to use and implement and it’s the only software I recommend when my clients need an accounting solution.

Before nBill we used PayPal as our primary source to create and submit invoices. As good as PayPal is at this we needed a more robust and detailed way to bill our clients and have more control over how we serve them.

What difference has nBill made to you?
nBill not only streamlines our website design and hosting but has allowed us to offer services in a way that was not possible with any other product we tried.

Why did you choose nBill over other products?
We tried several products to manage our billing. The others that we tried had several problems that we were not eager to try and correct. Among them was poor English translation and wording which filtered down into support where we were unable to understand the solution. nBill also offered a more robust admin area with a fluid and dynamic range of options that made for easy navigation and workflow. More important to us was the general layout of nBill and its ability to morph into any style we needed.

Any other comments?
As with any product great support is a must and nBill provides this without hassle and with easy to understand solutions. You can tell when a developer cares about the program they are creating because it shows in the details. nBill is easy to setup and easy to navigate with all the tools you need to create stylish invoices and look professional in the way you conduct your business. A great admin area not only for the website owner to create, organize and deliver their billing but for their clients as well to manage how they pay and keep track of all their payments to us. The fact that the price of nBill was inline with what we could afford made it an easy choice.

I've been a programmer for nearly 25 years and 15 years ago the family business was set up. Whilst we do small amounts of development work for others, the main bulk of the work is interfacing to Companies House. The company setup is to provide business services to companies, and specifically forming a limited company for them.

What do you use nBill for?
With around 1500 companies formed in the UK every day and us having our own slice of that, setting up a limited company online needs to be as automated as possible and this is where nBill helps out.

What were you doing before you started using nBill?
Prior to using nBill, we used our own internally developed accounts software (developed by me) which worked but was a few years old and didnt have many reporting options. At the time, we were reviewing the use of a CMS system to make it easier for our website updates and came across nBill for Joomla. We actually went with Joomla purely because of nBill.

What difference has nBill made to you?
For us, the key reason for using nBill is its events handling system. We have our formation system on a second server. nBills event system allows us to drop the Joomla registration process completely so when someone signs up  or updates their contact details, we can generate some PHP code in the events system to go through to the second server to keep it in sync with the main database. Also, when particular invoices are raised, we have a need to update a database, so, when someone orders something, the event checks what the product is and updates the database accordingly.

I had a choice of spending months rewriting our own system or use nBill which pretty much did everything we needed and had open database structures so we could extend it ourselves. Yes I have the advantage of being a PHP developer but nBill does what we need and thats why we use it. We've not seen this level of event handling in any other system and their support is second to none. There are a select group of developers that put as much effort into support as nBill do and nBill v2 is looking great

Why did you choose nBill over other products?
We needed a web based invoicing system so that invoices could be automatically emailed to our customers as soon as the company was formed and didnt want to go with a hosted third party accounts system because we needed something that would link in with our Joomla database of 10,000 customers without having to keep a third party system up to date.

What do you use nBill for?
I use nBill to receive orders in the front end and also to create invoices for people in a more proactive way in the back end, so if I am chasing the business I can back it up with professional looking invoices that are easy to settle up. It also lets me keep track of payments, and I can generate sales figures and reports really easily - if I want to know the turnover from 2007-2008 nBill can do it for me in an instant, and even break it down by individual product type using the ledger report.

I also use it to print off invoices to use as waybills, so each online transaction also gets converted into paper form for the client to keep as reference. The client front end is also very useful, it allows people to log in and check their past and present orders and invoices, and also to change their shipping details. It also has an excellent backup function that lets me store not only the nBill database but all the tables for my site so I know the information is always safe.

What were you doing before you started using nBill?
I was using paypal's "buy now" links which were fine at first, but soon became unwieldy and were not versatile enough

What difference has nBill made to you?
nBill has made a huge difference to my workflow. I can get on with my job and not worry so much about administering orders. It has given the website the wow factor that is missing from so many other studio websites.  I love the back end functions because I can set up an order, generate an invoice and send it off to the client via email in a matter of seconds, and when they receive it, payment is just a click away. Superb!

Why did you choose nBill over other products?
The reason I chose it over other components was its ability to produce professional invoices for the more complex jobs I take on. Its a perfect marriage of a website ordering system, and an invoicing system, so I can let the client order in their own time on the site, or I can carry out the more delicate and complex sales in a professional manner manually, and I can keep track of all the jobs in one place. When trying to organise 15-20 complex projects every week, nBill basically does what I need it to do and tells me what I need to know.

Any other comments?
People love the front end ordering system because "it just works", they can select the number of dubs they want, when they want them, how they want to pay and in what currency. The system then applies the relevant discounts, calculates the shipping and then takes the payment. I can also add any number of checkboxes, dropdowns and comment boxes, creating a totally unique and ultimately customisable ordering experience, so clients feel their project is being handled professionally.

There are so many features, and most of the time its pretty easy to figure them out, but whenever I am not sure help is always on hand - the support really is EXCEPTIONAL - not long after using nBill I switched hosting providers to Netshine too, and I recommend them to everyone who asks.

Our clients manage files and data via a Joomla powered backend so it is very useful to have a compatible billing system that is tightly integrated with our project management system. nBill is far the best Joomla billing component. There is no significant competition.

Before I picked nBill we had a different site that was using a custom ordering system. The system was pretty good but had serious security issues and it didn’t track payments as the person who built it didn’t get it finished properly. This was before my time with the company.

What difference has nBill made to you?
nBill has made all the difference to me in regards to tracking payments, emailing customers on their due dates and generating their invoices a few days before their due date. It makes my life so much easier to deal with support issues rather than having to go through the dates people are due and doing the invoices myself.

Why did you choose nBill over other products?
I chose nBill over Modern Bill and WHMCS due to the fact that nBill stays within your website whereas the others are a site on their own and I don’t think that is very professional.  With nBill it keeps all fields and information directly on my site with no additional logins required. So all in all, nBill is the best product I have seen for Joomla.

The support has been great everytime I needed to use it, it has been stable and I use it on 4 websites, including the free version and some free versions on some of my client websites.
